Curtains on eyelets: stylish and practical

The interior of any room requires special attention and careful selection of all elements of the decor. The design of the window is no exception, and sometimes it is the curtains on the windows that create such a coziness and a feeling of comfort that everyone needs. Beautiful decor of window openings is able to give the room expressiveness, originality, originality, freshness and even lightness.

Depending on what fabric is chosen for curtains and curtains, not only the possibility of penetration of sunlight into the room, but also the visual perception of the room as a whole depends.

Keeping up with the times

Not so long ago, fashion trends in the design of windows have radically changed their direction, setting priorities for maximum simplicity and functionality. And one of the most striking examples of this is the curtains on the grommets, which are gaining more and more popularity. Of course, it cannot be said that beautiful lambrequins with swag and multi-layered compositions have sunk into oblivion, however, more and more people prefer simpler, but no less original curtains.

Eyelet History

The history of the emergence of such a useful invention goes back to such an antiquity that today no one even remembers who exactly came up with this option for fastening the canvas, but it is known that it was used by sailors. And even then, the cringle meant a hole in the canvas, reliably and densely swept with thread, thanks to which the sail could be securely fastened and covered great distances using wind power.

Using eyelets today

Today, eyelets are a special device consisting of two parts (blocks and rings), which are widely used to seal holes in various materials. In particular, sewing eyelets made of metal or plastic are used to process holes in the curtains. They are attached to the fabric quite simply: you just need to seal the edge of the fabric with a special adhesive cloth and tape, bend it, mark the size of the eyelet’s inner hole, cut out the circles and fix the eyelet in their place, snapping one part into the other.

What is a curtain on grommets

In fact, such a curtain is a simple straight canvas corresponding to the length and double width of the window opening, the upper part of which is sealed with a special braid on which holes are evenly cut and grommets are fixed. When installing the curtain, it is strung on the cornice pipe and as a result perfectly smooth warehouses come out, dropping in beautiful folds to the floor. The eyelet itself is practically not visible at the same time, but when playing with the distance between the holes, you can adjust the depth of the folds. Another quite important advantage of such curtains is that no matter what they are exposed to, they will firmly hold on to the guide rod and will not come off it, as happens with the usual fastening on hooks. Also important is the fact that the curtain is very easy to remove from the cornice, it is easy to wash and iron, which is very important for the kitchen and the nursery, because it is in these rooms that it becomes soiled most quickly.

Where to use curtains on eyelets

Despite its rather simple design, the curtains on the eyelets will look great in any room. The main thing is to choose the right fabric. Strict, regular uniform folds of calm airy matter will bring lightness and airiness to the room. Heavy and saturated canvases with an expressive texture with a light movement of the hand in the daytime will hide the room from bright sunlight, and at night when the light is on - from prying eyes and at the same time clothe the room in both a strict and luxurious robe.

Speaking about the strict lines that are formed when drapery canvases with cringles and a bar, it must be said that such a design will fit perfectly into any of the interior styles. And if you use multilayer or filament curtains to create an interesting window design, then quite an original effect will come out. It is impossible not to mention the fact that the grommet fastening of the paintings is easy to combine with curtains on ordinary hooks.

So, for example, the curtain can be assembled on a special tape and fixed on the cornice with hooks, but heavy curtains can be made on the grommets or vice versa. This combination will be very expressive and give the room a special charm. A similar combination will fit perfectly in the hall and bedroom.

The sewing features of such a curtain allow the upper sealed part, on which the eyelets are directly attached to be made of a completely different fabric. Thus, it is easy to continue on the curtain the theme of finishing the working wall in the kitchen or to make this part of the curtain from the same fabric as decorative sofa pillows or other textiles used in the interior of the room. Such a move will create the most harmonious space.

Another important point is that the closer the cornice is attached to the ceiling, the higher and more spacious the room seems, especially if curtains made of flying chiffon or air organza are used in the room. By the way, a curtain made of such material will easily fit both in the bedroom and in the living room or dining room.

Today, the option of window decoration with curtains with grommets with fastening in a box is quite common, when there is no visible cornice or rings, and strict and uniform folds come down from the ceiling. In this case, the decor on the canvas can be transferred to the bottom of the product. Sewing along the edge of either satin fabric to match the base material, or contrast fabric to match the ceiling or walls.

A curtain with eyelets can also be used in the bathroom as a protection against splashing water when bathing or taking a shower. For this purpose, you need to choose a suitable fabric that will repel water and dry quickly.

The originality and practicality of fixing the curtains will be appreciated if you apply them on the veranda. Lightness and at the same time reliability will allow you to create a cozy relaxation area in a country house.

Speaking of functionality, one cannot but say that with the help of a curtain on the grommets it is easy to divide the room into zones. This is exactly the option of organizing space when stationary partitions are inappropriate. After all, if necessary, a room divided into zones can easily be made large and spacious.
