DIY interior door installation

1. On the door leaf we prepare a place for the hinges. They should be at a distance of about two hundred millimeters from the edge of the canvas above and below.
2. We cut the box details at an angle of forty-five degrees. We put the side part of the box on the canvas and mark the places for the loops. It is also necessary to provide for small gaps for the free movement of the doors.
3. On the side of the box we make a groove for hinges. Hinges are applied to the doors and the side of the trim and with a drill we make holes for screws. The diameter of the recesses should be slightly less than the diameter of the screws.
4. After the hinge we attach to the door leaf. We turn it over and at the opposite end, at a height of 90-120 cm, drill a hole for the latch with a pen drill. We mark and with the help of a mill we make a recess for the front plate of the latch. On both sides of the door we mark and drill holes for the latch handles. We insert the latch into the grooves made and fix it in the door leaf. We mount the handles and fasten the decorative lining.
5. We cut all the blanks for the door block at an angle of forty-five degrees and fasten the new box with the letter P with screws screwed into the ends of the box. When assembling it, leave small gaps.
6. We attach the box to the wall and in the grooves under the hinges we drill holes for its fastening to the wall. In the wall itself, we also drill holes with a puncher, and insert the caps.
7. We put the box vertically and screw one top screw. Using the level, we ensure that the box is upright and screw the bottom self-tapping screw into the wall. At the same time, we leave a small gap between the wall and the box, where we insert the wedges and screw the screws.
8. Next, we hang the door, attaching the hinges to the box. At the same time, the hinges cover the heads of the screws with which the box is attached to the wall. The door should be checked for correct installation. It should not spontaneously open and close. Next, fix the box with wooden wedges around the perimeter.
9. At the next stage, we install a locking strip, but a self-tapping screw is screwed under it into the wall for fastening, and the locking strip itself will hide the head of this self-tapping screw.
10. Having covered with masking tape the front surfaces of the box and doors, the slot is foamed with polyurethane foam. While the foam hardens, the door should be closed, and small expansion wedges inserted in the cracks between the canvas and the box. After the foam hardens, remove the masking tape, cut off the remaining foam, remove the wedges.
11. Trim platbands to size. We apply silicone gel to the surface of the box, apply platbands and fasten them with small nails.
